Cristiano Rufini, President of Olidata, spoke at the Machiavelli Defence Forum on the panel entitled “The defence of strategic infrastructure: cybersecurity and artificial intelligence”.
The discussion addressed the issue of protecting critical Italian and European infrastructure – from energy to telecommunications, from transport to data centres – within an increasingly complex geopolitical landscape, in which cybersecurity plays a central role in national security.
In the context of hybrid warfare, the line between civilian and military infrastructure is becoming increasingly blurred. Digital networks, energy systems, communication platforms and essential services now represent strategic assets that must be protected from increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.
During the panel, Rufini highlighted the value of artificial intelligence applied to cybersecurity as a tool to strengthen the ability to prevent, analyse and respond to cyberattacks. AI can indeed help identify anomalies, recognise threat patterns and support faster and more effective decision-making.
On the sidelines of the event, the President of Olidata highlighted a key message: “The national system must be cohesive and efficient”; watch the interview here. This vision underscores the importance of strengthening national skills, technologies and industrial capabilities in order to build genuine technological autonomy and greater Italian digital sovereignty.
Olidata’s participation in the Machiavelli Defence Forum confirms the Group’s commitment to contributing to the country’s digital security and strengthening its digital resilience through innovative solutions in the fields of cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and the protection of strategic infrastructure.
