Cristiano Rufini, Chairman of Olidata, was in Cernobbio for the 52nd edition of the Forum ‘Today’s and Tomorrow’s Landscape for Competitive Strategies’, one of Italy’s leading events dedicated to dialogue between institutions, businesses and experts on major economic, geopolitical and technological trends.

During the Forum, held at Villa d’Este from 4 to 6 September 2026, Rufini was interviewed by Adnkronos on the topics of data security, data centres and the new challenges posed by the evolution of quantum computing.

Data centres: data security is at the heart of the matter

The message highlighted by the Chairman of Olidata concerns one of the most strategic assets today for businesses, the public sector and critical infrastructure: data.

The exponential growth in the volume of information generated and managed digitally means that data centres are becoming increasingly central to a country’s competitiveness and security. Alongside computational capacity, infrastructure availability and energy efficiency, the ability to guarantee data protection, integrity and confidentiality therefore plays a decisive role.

It is against this backdrop that digital security becomes a strategic element of industrial and technological policy.
